Dr. Teitelbaum named in the Hollywood Reporter Top Docs list for 2015

Dr. Teitelbaum is named in this year's Top Doctors list from the Hollywood Reporter.

For its second annual Top Doctors Issue, The Hollywood Reporter elicited stories of drama, trauma and triumph over both by surveying 2,000 professionals in the film, television, movie, music, sports and media fields to find out who are the most beloved, trusted and go-to physicians in L.A.

This month's Harper's Bazaar introduces UltraShape, a new technology that claims to melt belly fat with no pain.

Dr. Teitelbaum participated in the clinical studies of the device, and says "There's still nothing that can beat liposuction or a tummy tuck for fast, effective fat loss, ... plus, if your muscles are separated or your tummy skin is loose from pregnancy, UltraShape can't help."

The Perfect Breast

The Perfect Breast

A British plastic surgeon – and friend of mine – Patrick Mallucci has published a study in our most prestigious plastic surgery journal on the perfect breast.

Here is a fun story in the Daily Mail talking about it:

Departures Magazine Features Dr. Teitelbaum

I’ve been in two “best of” lists in one year!  First the British magazine Tatler and now Departures, the exclusive magazine for American Express Platinum and Black Card members. While some such “best of” lists are actually paid advertisements and others the result of PR maneuvering, these were based upon the recommendations of other plastic surgeons.

From the November 2014 issues of Departures Magazine:

Patient causes her own complication, sues her surgeon

Patient causes her own complication, sues her surgeon

A patient had tissue loss caused by smoking after surgery. Her response? Sue her surgeon. Hopefully the courts in England will act with a greater sense of justice than they often do in America, though Great Britian has become such a nanny state that they may be allowing its citizens to shirk individual responsibility even more so than in America.

Perhaps worse of all is that this surgeon has his named dragged through the press labeled as “botching” an operation.

Happy 80th Birthday Brigitte Bardot

Happy 80th Birthday Brigitte Bardot

September 28, 2014 was Brigitte Bardot’s 80th birthday. In my mind she had some of the most elegant and beautiful facial features of the last century. Check out this cool video and read the wonderful bio on Jezebel.

It is at once interesting and sad. She had such big eyes, full cheeks, and wonderful lips. Those are the way full lips should look – not the ridiculous overstuffed Juvederm lips of our generation. What a beauty!

What a Difference a Day Makes - Dr. Teitelbaum Quoted in New York Times

For a piece published August 20, 2014, Dr. Teitelbaum was interviewed by the New York Times for a controversial piece about using saline injections to temporarily enlarge the breasts for 24 hours.

Dr. Steven Teitelbaum, a plastic surgeon in Santa Monica, Calif., and an associate clinical professor of plastic surgery at the U.C.L.A. School of Medicine, called the saline solution unnecessary. “Between good bras and chicken cutlets, you can always look good in clothes,” he said.

This report claims that an “unlicensed cosmetic surgeon” in Vietnam threw a patient’s body into a river after she died on the operating room table during a “breast enhancement procedure.”

If true, this story is so repulsive that no elaboration is needed.

In the July issue of Allure magazine, Dr. Caroline Glicksman and I give advice on how to spot overdone breast augmentation. Fortunately, with good surgical planning and technique, this is totally avoidable. It is such a shame that the “poster children” for breast augmentation are anorexically thin women with massive breast implants.
